Emelie Johnson Vegh

We are honored to present Emelie Johnson Vegh as an In-Person Speaker at the Dog People Evolution Conference 2025.

She is an upper secondary school teacher specializing in Swedish and English, with a focus on children's literature, and a member of the Karen Pryor Clicker Training Clicker Expo Faculty and holds a TAGteach Level 3 certification. Emelie introduced TAGteach to Scandinavia alongside Eva Bertilsson, and together they formed Carpe Momentum, a collaborative venture through which they offer numerous lectures, podcasts, webinars, courses, and classes. They are also co-authors of Agility Right From the Start.

More About Emelie

 

Emelie is deeply involved in the world of horse training, currently working with a riding school in southern Sweden to transition to reward-based training. Emelie is also pursuing studies in sports psychology at Malmö University, with a related course at KTH, further expanding her expertise in learning and behavior. A key part of her work involves teaching sustainable habit-building, often using running as an example.

Her work with horses, including helping a riding school in southern Sweden transition to reward-based training, reflects her commitment to spreading humane, welfare-first practices across different animal species. This broad understanding of learning principles, coupled with her practical experience, empowers her to create lasting change not just in the way we train dogs, but in how we interact with the humans we work alongside.

 

Well-known Speaker and Author

 

As a part of the Karen Pryor Clicker Training Clicker Expo Faculty, Emelie is recognized as a leader in integrating positive reinforcement and behavior analysis into training for both dogs and humans.

In addition to her work in behavior training, Emelie is a fiction author, writing novels for both children and adults. Her children’s books focus on horses, dogs, and positive reinforcement training, with titles such as Ellinors Sommar and Ellinor på Klubben (in Swedish).

Outside of her professional life, Emelie is a mother of three, living with her husband and children in Malmö, Sweden. She shares her life with Tessa, a field golden retriever, and is soon to welcome a new puppy of the same breed. Emelie enjoys spending time with her dogs, engaging in activities such as obedience, rally obedience, freestyle, gun dog training, and tracking.

Emelie’s work is rooted in the belief that positive change comes from within, both as individuals and as a community. Whether it’s helping adults and children develop sustainable habits or training dogs to cooperate, she demonstrates the power of focusing on the individual learning process. Her holistic approach to behavior, considering the emotional well-being of both the dog and the person, aligns seamlessly with the core values ​​of Dog People Evolution.

Emelie’s diverse background in both human and animal learning, along with her passion for promoting positive, science-based training practices, makes her an invaluable voice for this year's theme of change. Her insights into learning theory, positive reinforcement, and her unwavering commitment to humane methods will be a great asset to our conversation. She will undoubtedly inspire us all to think differently about how we evolve as individuals, and as a community in the dog training world.
